Magic on fire!
The team travelled to Erica Park, Belhar on Friday 28th September to take on Glendene, a team we had knocked out of the Nedbank Cup a few weeks earlier.
The squad was boosted by the inclusion of Nazier Jacobs, who has made a great recovery from his injuries and is getting his career back on track.
The Magic started off well and dominated possession in the early exchanges but struggled to create any clear chances. But on 20 minutes a corner by Greg Roelf awarded after great attacking play by Lihle Maqoqa, was headed home by Therlo Moosa to give us the lead. It was his 7th goal of the season for last season’s top scorer.
Captain Danian Wareley continued his scoring form when he swiveled and volleyed a great 2nd goal after 35 mins after a superb throw in by Sebastian Lucas.
We finished the 1st half in command of the game.
Glendene came out fighting in the 2nd half and a few tackles went unpunished. But our passing and movement was good and with Glendene chasing the game there were gaps opening up behind their defence and Moosa got on to the end of a Wareley knock down and buried it in the back of the net for his 2nd and our 3rd on the night.
Glendene pulled a goal back late in injury time after an indirect free kick was awarded against our keeper for time wasting… 3-0 up!
Final score 3-1 and our 8th win in a row in all competitions.
