SANTOS SMASHED BY MAGIC

The Magic were in league action on Saturday 9th Feb when they took on Santos at the Lansdowne road facility.  The game was played with a howling wind straight across the field and neither team adjusted to the conditions in the first 30 minutes.  It took a lucky break for The Magic to take the lead, when the Santos keeper miskicked a clearance straight at one of his defenders and the ball ricocheted straight to Therlo Moosa who side footed into the empty net from the edge of the area.

The goal inspired The Magic players and we started to connect our passes.  Just before half time we scored our 2nd goal and it was a thing of beauty.  We started our build up play from the keeper, and passed it around the back before linking into midfield.  The ball then went wide down the right and after some combination passing, fullback Ghaalib Avontuur made an overlapping run and put in a great cross along the ground that found Danian Warley who smashed his 1st time shot into the top corner from 20 yards.  0-2 Magic at half time.

Santos came out firing in the 2nd half but we were catching them on the counter attack regularly and midway through the 2nd half, new signing Andisiwe Mtsila sent Thurlow Wood down the left wing, and his pinpoint cross was side footed into the roof of the net by top scorer Moosa for his 2nd of the game and his 15th league goal of the campaign.  With time running out Mtsila split the Santos defence with an inch perfect through ball to new signing Jerry Mxabo, and the experienced striker scored with a side foot finish to complete the rout.

Back to back 4-0 wins in the league and well placed for a tough 2nd half of the season.
